Coronavirus, Job Search and the 6 occupations that are hot right now…
Here at Get.It we do a large amount of paid traffic acquisition through Google Ads and Microsoft Ads for our network of occupational job sites.
Our ad accounts are structured in a way that mirrors our network of job sites. We track each occupation/site with its own ad campaign.
Given that Google is where the majority of people start their job search this gives us an unmatched view of the job search patterns of the general US population, week over week, and month over month.
We know when Opticians job searches are up and when Legal Nurse Consultant job searches are down…
With the Coronavirus now in full swing, we’ve seen some interesting trends with our campaigns starting roughly 7 days ago when the news cycle really started to take center stage.
As a whole job search traffic is down substantially across the board, roughly -30% week over week.
But more interesting is that across roughly 700 occupations covering almost every major job category, there are 6 occupations where job search is actually trending up during this same time frame.
They are in order of percentage gain…
- Childcare (+109%)
- Physician (+86%)
- Medical Transcription (+52%)
- Data Entry (+42%)
- Delivery Driver (+15%)
- Nursing (+8%)
It will be interesting to see if other occupations, or job search, in general, pick up over the coming weeks — but for now, there it is, the only 6 occupations where job search has increased since the pandemic hit the US shores.
